Everyone is invited to attend a presentation by long time State Representative and Cathedral alum, John Day.  The presentation is hosted by the Young Democrats and will begin at 3:15 tomorrow, Wednesday, in  Rm. 4343.  Among other issues, Mr. Day will address the health care plan, which recently passed the U.S. House of Representatives.
Last call for Model UN registration.  Any student who still has registration fees or permission forms should bring those items to Rm. 4343 immediately.
Y.E.T. Meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 18th at 3:10 p.m. in Mrs. Powell office

Wednesday we will be on a regular schedule.
Thursday due to Open House we will dismiss at 11:30
Friday we will be on the Early Dismissal schedule we dismiss at 2:15

If you would be interested in riding a pep bus for adults on Friday, the cost is $30 which covers the price of the bus and your ticket to the game. We’ll be leaving immediately after school – please RSVP (with payment) to me no later than noon on Wednesday. We must have at least 33 riders to make this a go.
Just FYI, we’ll be opening this up to parents and alums, too.

Join us for the January 13th meeting of Books and Bagels when we will be discussing the two books chosen for December:  The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows and Run:  A Novel, by Ann Patchett.  You may choose to read either novel or both, or simply come to the meeting, eat a bagel, and listen to the discussion.  All are welcome.

The Cathedral Football team will be traveling to Evansville Friday night to play in the semi state football game. A student charted bus will be leaving after school on Friday. Transportation costs will be provided by the school and students wishing to sign up for the bus must pay 7.00 for an advanced ticket and $5.00 for a box lunch prepared by Sahm’s. The first 54 students who bring in  their money- $12.00 as well as the signed permission slip which is attached or available in the front office will travel to Evansville. If there is an overflow we will consider another bus. We need all forms and money turned in by noon on Friday.
Please consider this trip as a way to support the team in an atmosphere that will be charged with many Evansville fans. The players will need your support.

All students who have signed up to be tour guides for Open House must attend tour guide training on during your Resource period on Tuesday, November 17 in the Atrium near the entrance to the Auditorium.  If you do not have a Resource period, you will need to come to the Student Life Center Commons before school (7:00-7:30 a.m.) or after school (3:30-4:00 p.m.) on November 17 for training.
 
If you signed up to be a tour guide or if you are working for a teacher or coach during Open House, you are required to attend the tour guide training.  (If you are working for a teacher or coach, you may be asked to conduct a tour if we run short of tour guides.)
 
During training you will receive instructions, a script, and a tour guide route to use during Open House.  If you would like to be an Open House tour guide but have not yet signed up, stop by the Admissions Office (behind glass doors next to the main office).
Liturgy Choir will meet Monday next week instead of Tuesday.

Cathedral Soup Kitchen
We will be cooking and serving lunch at the Cathedral Soup Kitchen (1350 N Pennsylvania, 46202) this Saturday, Nov 14 from 10:30-1:30 PM
to our homeless guests.  To carpool, meet at Cathedral at 10:10 AM by the Kelly Hall flagpole.  This is a junior class service project which welcomes members from  other classes.  Please let Mrs. Halstead know of your intent to help.
Mozel Sanders Thanksgiving Dinner Assistance
 
Cathedral students may volunteer to assist at the Mozel Sanders Thanksgiving Dinner in Atherton Hall at Butler University on Wednesday, Nov 25 (4-8 PM), Thursday, Nov 26, (4 AM – 5 PM) and Friday, Nov 27 (8AM -12 noon) in one or two hour shifts.  The Mozel Sanders Thanksgiving dinner historically serves thousands of meals on Thanksgiving Thursday.  Simply go to Atherton Hall at the Butler campus (704 W. Hampton) to help or sign up ahead of time regarding your date, time and number of volunteers in your party.   Butler University (4600 Sunset Ave 46208)    Details in flyer.
 
Your Fighting Irish Football Team has reached the Regional’s!  We are hosting New Palestine this Friday the 13th at 7:00PM at North Central H.S.  The ticket price has bumped up to $6.00.  Every fan, 1st grade and up needs a ticket for admittance.  Tickets will be sold in the Athletic Office starting Wednesday morning through Friday afternoon at 2pm.  Tickets will also be sold during student lunches on Thursday & Friday.  Bring your 4 leaf clover and rabbit’s foot to help slay the Dragons this Friday!  NO FANS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE GROUNDS BEFORE 5:00PM on Friday afternoon.  The home stands are on the west side (the press box side) of the stadium.  And there are no passes out once you have entered the stadium.  Thank you for your cooperation.
The Indianapolis National College Fair is being held Monday November 16th at the Indianapolis Convention Center. Over 200 colleges from across the nation will be on hand to provide information about their schools and programs. There will also be information sessions on the college admissions process, financial aid, NCAA eligibility, and selective college application. You can attend the fair either from 9-12 in the morning or 6-8 in the evening. Juniors or seniors who wish to attend during the day will need to use one of their college visit day forms. Students should pre-register at www.gotomyncf.com. You will be able to print out a bar code that will contain your contact information. College representatives will then be able to scan this allowing them to get your information so you don’t have to fill out numerous information cards.

Eighth Annual Spring Break Trip John’s Island, South Carolina.    We will have a meeting on Tuesday,
November 17 in the SLC for the Habitat Spring Break trip during March 20-27, 2010.   During this Spring Break mission trip,
we work on four Habitat homes and perform outreach projects for a local church.  See Mrs. Halstead with questions.

Peru Mission Trip Meeting-Our Third Annual Trip
With very competitive air fares, we can now invite you to join us on the third annual mission trip to the children’s home outside Lima, Peru.  Come practice your Spanish and help care for sixty Peruvian children who reside at the Hogar de San Francisco de Asis in Chaclacayo, Peru.  After a week of work at the Hogar, you may elect to take a side trip to Machu Picchu (considered one of the eight wonders of the world)
in Peru.  Our trip cost is $1500 for the trip to Chaclacayo (just NE of Lima.).  Our dates of travel will be about
June 2 – 14th.  The optional side trip to Machu Picchu will cost $799 additionally.   There will be a meeting on Monday, Nov. 16
at 6:45 PM in the SLC Commons to review this mission trip. With new experiences, service, an opportunity to
 improve your Spanish and prayer, all wonderful elements of an international mission trip, this journey provides
 a magical insight into South American life and a reflective pause.  See Mrs. Halstead with questions. Fundraiser
opportunities will begin right away.
The annual canned food drive begins Monday next week and ends Friday Nov. 13. Collection will be in the WAC lobby every morning before school (7-7:30).
 
Bring 15 cans or boxes of food or donate 10.00. We will distribute to Gleaners, Holy Cross, Little Sisters of the Poor and several other local organizations.
 
Besides helping the needy, you will earn 1 service hour and 2 jeans days! (Mon. and Tues. before Thanksgiving)

It is from 5:30-6:30pm.    2.  Everyone should be practicing with Mrs. Scheetz this week.  See me Monday to set up your time after school for the days you want to practice. This Thursday and Friday (Nov. 5 and 6) are “Pride of the Irish Band FUNdraiser” days at Max and Erma’s in Castleton.  Pick up a coupon from a band member or Mrs. McCullough and 20% of your lunch or dinner bill will be donated to the “Pride”!  Great way to support your Cathedral band and have a great meal too!
This is a reminder that Cathryn Berger Kaye, renowned expert in service learning, will be visiting Cathedral Wednesday, Nov. 4.  She will be meeting with teachers, administrators, program directors, program staff, and students in the Baker Board Room beginning at 8:30.  The schedule is the following:

·         Administrators (9:30 – 11 a.m.)
·         Students (3:15 – 4:15)
