May 2013

The Used Uniform Sale, sponsored by Mothers Club, will be Friday, May 24 from 10 am to 1 pm in the Welch Activity Center Lobby.

This Thursday, as part of the Talent Show and the County Fair and Irish 500 on Friday--all of which are really fun an energetic events on our campus, we will be hosting a Relay for Life. All funds benefit the American Cancer Society. For the Talent Show, the cost of entering is $1. This $1 gets you a ticket to vote for your favorite act as well as a luminaria bag. On this bag, you can write the name of a deceased loved one or a survivor of cancer. The bag will then be used as part of a prayer service after the second Talent Show. The prayer service will begin at 8:45 p.m. around our beautiful outside altar space.

You also can purcahse luminaria bags at the 4 p.m. Talent Show, and they will become part of the prayer service. You can purchase up to five bags. Again, all of the money raised goes to Relay for Life.

On Friday after classes we will have a variety of lunch options. Students have the opportunity to purchase hot dogs for $1, pizza for $2 or Chick Filet for $3. Drinks, chips and desserts will be each be $1. There will be limited supply of salad. All of the food is being donated, so all purchases go to support Relay for Life. Students can also bring their lunch.

After the lunch is the County Fair which ends with the Hunger Games water ballon fight. During lunch this week, vote for the person in your county to be placed in the games for $1 and again all proceeds go to Relay for life. Following the Fair, we go to the Welch Activity Center to finish our day with the 24th running of the Irish 500 and assembly. We hope to have great weather, fun activitie,s and raise money for Relay for Life.

All activities earn county points to determine which county will win the Fitz Bell.

There is a collection box in the front office for parents or students to drop of any used uniforms to be donated for re-sale. Spirit wear is also accepted. Money from the sale of uniforms goes to sponsor teacher/student activities supported by the Mother's Club.

It's been a great year here at Cathedral. We hope that students found an extracurricular activity that helped make this a great school year for them. As the school year comes to a close, it's important for them to look at their achievements as well as think about the areas that need more attention. We encourage all students to look at their involvement in service. First, have them check their PowerSchool. Are their hours up to date? If not they need to be completed before the coming school year's hours can be recorded. Summer is a great opportunity to catch up or get a jump on next year’s hours. Try something new! Please take a look at the Service Outreach page found under the Faith & Service tab on the Cathedral Website. We have pages with all kinds of information how to get involved in service. Some pages are:
