Cathedral High School "Pride of the Irish" Band  

The "Pride of the Irish" is the instrumental musical ambassador for Cathedral High School.  116 musicians and guard members comprise this year's marching edition of "The Pride."  Cathedral Band has received Division I ratings in music contests across the state.  The band traveled to and performed in Toronto, Canada in 1998; the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland in 2000; the King Kamehameha Parade in Honolulu, Hawaii in 2002; on board the Music on the Seas Royal Caribbean cruise in 2004; and was on national TV on November 27, 2005, in the Hollywood Christmas Parade.  This year the band will perform in contests at Lawrence Central High School, Franklin Central High School, Franklin Community High School, and Floyd Central High School, in addition to the Indianapolis Veterans' Day Parade and St. Patrick's Day Parade.  All band students also participate in Concert Band, Pep Band, and ISSMA District Solo and Ensemble Contest.  The Concert Band performs at two end-of-semester concerts, and at the ISSMA District Organizational Contest.  Our Pep Band brings spirit, enthusiasm, and fun to six Cathedral varsity basketball games.  Many of our students also participate in one of two Jazz Bands, Winter Guard, and various percussion, woodwind, and brass ensembles.  Students have the opportunity to audition for and participate in the IMEA Honor Band, Indiana All-State Band, West Virginia University Honor Band, University of Indianapolis Festival of Winds, Butler University All-Star Band, and the Indiana All-Star Marching Band.   For photos of "The Pride of the Irish", visit http://www.flickr.com/photos/prideoftheirish
