How to Apply for Freshman Admission
Step 1: Submit an Application for Freshman Admission
Families of 8th grade students also may obtain a copy of the Application for Freshman Admission on the day of the High School Placement Test or may download it here. The deadline to submit the Application for Freshman Admission is Friday, December 7, 2012. There is no application fee.

Step 2: Obtain Two Student Recommendations
Two Student Recommendation Forms (part of the application but also available for download) must be completed and submitted by January 18, 2013. The forms must be completed by two people who fit one or more of the following criteria:

The student’s current teachers of an academic subject (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Theology, or World Language); or
-
The student’s school guidance counselor; or
-
The student’s school principal
The recommendation forms must be submitted by school personnel directly to the Cathedral High School Enrollment Management Office by fax at (317) 968-7395 or by mail to Cathedral High School, Attn: Enrollment Management, 5225 E. 56th St., Indianapolis, IN 46226. The Enrollment Management Office must receive the Student Recommendation Forms no later than Friday, January 18, 2013.

Step 3: Submit Academic Records
In addition to the Cathedral Application for Freshman Admission, the student and family must submit the following materials:
- A copy of 7th grade report card and most up-to-date 8th grade report card
- 7th grade ISTEP+ scores (If the school does not offer the ISTEP+, please submit a copy of the most recent comparable test results such as Iowa, CTBS, ERB, etc.)
- Additional educational evaluations and/or medical information, if applicable

Step 4: Take the High School Placement Test
All students applying for freshman admission at Cathedral are required to take the STS High School Placement Test (8th grade students only). For students applying for admission to the Class of 2017, the test will be offered on the following dates:
High School Placement Test Dates for the Class of 2017
- Saturday, November 3, 2012 - 8:30 A.M.
- Saturday, November 17, 2012 - 8:30 A.M.
- Saturday, December 1, 2012 - 8:30 A.M.
Students should plan to take the test on one of the three dates and should plan to arrive by 8:15 a.m. Tests will conclude by 11:45 a.m. There is no fee to take the test, and parents may pre-register their 8th grader by contacting the Enrollment Management Office via phone at (317) 968-7370 or via email at mcloud@gocathedral.com.
Cathedral High School does accept STS High School Placement Test results from other schools. In such cases, we must receive a score report directly from the school at which the student has taken the placement test. We will not accept results submitted directly by the family.

Step 5: Schedule Student/Family Interview
The Enrollment Management Office will schedule an interview for each applicant and his/her family. Interviews typically take place on Sundays in January. The interview allows us at Cathedral to get to know the applicant and his/her family. Additionally, it provides the applicant and family the opportunity to get to know Cathedral. After the interview, and after we have received all required materials, the applicant's file is complete and ready for review by the Admissions Committee.

Step 6: Acceptance Letters
All interviews will be completed by early February, and all information relevant to an applicant's file should be received no later than the end of January. We anticipate mailing decision letters near the middle of February. In order to finalize enrollment, families must submit an official registration along with an enrollment deposit of $1,000 by mid-March.
