Transfer Applicants
The typical point of entry for students transferring to Cathedral from another high school is within the first week of a semester. The admissions process begins once an individual requests and submits a transfer application and a high school transcript. The applicant also needs to arrange for the submission, under separate cover, of two letters of recommendation. One letter must be from a teacher or counselor at the student's current school. The second letter of recommendation may be from an individual of the student's choice. Once a determination of an available spot is made, the Admissions Office will schedule an interview with the applicant and his/her family.
1. All requests by high school students for transfer to Cathedral High School must be submitted to Duane Emery, Vice President for Enrollment Management.
2. For students seeking entrance for the beginning of the upcoming school year, we may not be able to offer admission in the spring until we ascertain how many, if any, openings to expect in each class. The Admissions Committee may not be able to act on transfer requests until June.
3. Mid-term requests will be handled on an individual basis.
4. Students requesting a transfer must submit the following information to the Vice President for Enrollment Management:
- A completed "Application for Admission--Transfer Student"
- A copy of the high school transcript for all high school course work completed
- Two letters of recommendation mailed directly to Cathedral (Note: At least one letter must be from a teacher or counselor at the student's current school.)
5. Complete transfer files (application, transcript, recommendation letters) will be forwarded to the Admissions Committee. The Vice President for Enrollment Management must have received all required materials before the Committee will consider the transfer request.
6. The criteria for admission as a transfer student will be based on the following:
- Space availability
- Student performance (academic and social) in previous and current high school(s)
- Assessment of the reason(s) transfer is requested
7. When the applicant's information is complete and the criteria for admission are acceptable to the Admissions Committee, the applicant may be called for an interview with one or more members of the committee.
