Campus Ministry "The Cross Our Only Hope"
The theme for our 2010-2011 school year is "Ave Crux Spes Unica: The Cross Our Only Hope." We take this from the writings of Father Basil Moreau, the founder of the Congregation of the Holy Cross. Joshua 1:9 tells us to "Be not afraid". Throughout our school year we will strive to make this theme and this scripture verse a part of our every day lives here at Cathedral because it is the cross that gives us hope, the cross that brings us courage, and the cross that leads the way.
It is with open arms that we welcome the class of 2014 to the halls of Cathedral. Our hope is that we will lead them to an understanding of what being a member of the Cathedral family is all about: to live in a way that brings Christ to everyone we meet.
Have a blessed school year!

MORNING PRAYER AUGUST 31, 2010
Heavenly Father,
In our Gospel reading you provide for us today through Your Church’s liturgy, we hear the story of Your Beloved Son teaching in Capernaum. While there, a man possessed with an unclean spirit calls out to Him, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazarath? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are- the Holy One of God!” Our Lord in response simply orders the spirit to leave the man and it came out of him. All gathered in attendance gawked in awe at the power of our Savior.
Perhaps, Father, one of the things you intend us to see in this story is that the people, caught up in the moment somehow miss the fact that the demon outed Christ as being the Holy One sent from You! If the people in the synagogue in Capernaum can miss this announcement from right in front of them due to the circumstances of the moment, how many of Your subtle revelations do we miss because of our focus on the peripheral? Lord, bless us with a willingness to seek You each day of our lives regardless of the particular circumstances that surround us. Help us to recognize Your blessings and to always be aware of Your works and Your never-ending Love. As a community, Father, help us to more fully recognize Your wonderful works in our school that we may collectively come to know Your Holy Spirit which dwells within Our Church and within each of us. Help us to see Lord, that we may not be blinded by our busyness and circumstance.
Amen
