2011 Season Recap College Players/Alums Program History Irish Juniors

 Cathedral Alum in NCAA Final Four

Cathedral's very own Brittany Lee ('09) will be competing in the 2012 NCAA Volleyball Final Four.  Britter's University of Michigan program advanced to this elite group by defeating #2 ranked Stanford Cardinal in the finals of the West Regional.  Brittany was selected captain of this year's Michigan squad.  Brittany was a starter for the State Champion and National Catholic High School Team of the Year in 2008.  She will play her last volleyball match of the season in the biggest setting - the NCAA Final Four. Way to go Britter!  We're proud of you!  Read more.

Michigan will play No. 3 Texas in the first NCAA Tournament national semifinal this Thursday (Dec. 13) at 7 p.m. at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky. ESPN2 will televise the semifinals and final.

The Hohman and McDonald families celebrate the big event.  Here Sara and Jazzy are surrounded by their loved ones. Sara Hohman signed with the University of North Carolina Greenboro.  Jazzy McDonald signed with Inidiana University.  Congratulations ladies, we're proud of you!

Jazzmine McDonald named Under Armour Girls High School All-American 

 

Jazzy joins the Wall. Senior Jazzmine McDonald was named third team All-American. She is Cathedral's twelfth High School All-American. The Indiana University recruit had a fantastic senior year. Read more.

McDonald named to the Indianapolis Star Super Volleyball Team

More honors rolled in for Jazzy. She was named to The Indianapolis Star Super Volleyball Team.  Read more.

Hohman and McDonald selected as Indiana Senior All-Stars

Seniors Sara Hohman and Jazzy McDonald joins the long lists of Indiana All-Stars.  Both were selected after participating in the All-Star tryouts on November 9th.  Choosen as the best of the southern Indiana has to offer both participated in the All-Star Classic on Sunday, November 18 at Perry Meridian High School.   Coach Kesterson served as an All-Star coach for the 10th time.

McDonald and White earn All-State honors

Senior Jazzmine McDonald and freshman Kendall White were selected ICGSA 4A All-State by a committee of coaches.  Jazzy earned first team honors after being named second year last season.  Kendall joins a very select group of volleyball players in the state of Indiana - very few freshman have received in honor in 4A (the state's largest class).  Kendall earned second team honors.

Seniors Randi McQueen and Lauren Scaletty named Academic All-State

Two seniors met the stringent standards for ICGSA Academic All-State.  The qualifications are tough:  you must be a senor, have a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, an SAT score of 1110 (on critical reading and math only) or ACT score of 24.  Randi and Lauren past the test and join Cathedral's list of Academic All-State volleyball student-athletes.

Four named first team MCGSA All-City

Cathedral once again got the max number of players named to the first team All-City honor squad.  Sara Hohman, Molly Kennedy, Jazzmine McDonald and Kendall White were selected to this team.

Senior Jazzmine McDonald was selected as one of the top seniors in the nation by PrepVolleyball.com. The top 250 volleyball players from the class of 2013 from across the United States were recognized. Jazzy was named the 59th best recruit in her class.

Congratulations Jazzy! We're proud of you.

AVCA Announces 2012-13 Under Armour High School All-America Watch List & Phenom List

LEXINGTON, Ky. (August 27, 2012) - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is pleased to announce the Under Armour High School All-America Watch List and the inaugural Phenom List for the 2012-13 season.

This year's Under Armour Watch List includes 343 players whose high school head coaches are AVCA members, representing 36 states and marks the beginning of the Under Armour All-America selection process. The AVCA Phenom List includes 363 players whose high school head coaches are AVCA members, representing 39 states and serves as the starting point for the Phenom College Preparatory Program.

 Coach K to present at the AVCA Convention Again

Coach Jean Kesterson has been asked to serve on a panel discussion for the 2012 AVCA Convention in Louisville, KY in mid-December.  The title of the session is: “Injuries and Training Time: A Critical Conversation Between College, High School and Club Coaches”  The panel of coaches include: Mary Wise, University of Florida; Rick Butler, owner and director of Sports Performance Volleyball Club;  Jean Kesterson, Cathedral High School; Tom Pingel, USA Volleyball Senior Manager, Moderator.  This marks Coach K's fourth time presenting at the convention.  Coach Low has also presented three times at the convention.
