Sasi to Powerschool Conversion
Beginning Monday, June 8, 2009, Cathedral High School will no longer use Sasi/IGPro for our Student Management System and will begin to use Powerschool as its replacement. As a result of this change, training for Powerschool will begin in February-May which will consist of artificial and current student data that exists in Sasi.
Questions asked in recent meetings
Why are we changing now?
Pearson has given all schools until August, 2010 to either migrate to Powerschool or choose another Student Management System/Gradebook. There are also financial savings and discounts for school to migrate as soon as possible.
Will we pay more for Powerschool and Sasi?
No, licensing fees will remain exactly the same. Our only costs will be to pay for implementation of the software and training for faculty and staff.
As a teacher, what will be different for me?
- All grades, assignments, attendance, reports, and inquiries will be done on the Internet through a web browser and can be done on any computer as long as an Internet connect is available.
- All informational data is live and consistent for all users. Email addresses, parent phone numbers, student information will be consistent for teachers as it is for administrators, counselors, and teachers.
- Simplified screen for changing grades and performing daily attendance?
How will this affect parents and students now that everyone has Parent Connect access?
Parents and students will still have access to grades online like they do now. It will just be a different website address.
Will grades be available online during summer sessions?
Yes, grades will be available for all sessions, summer and school year beginning June 1, 2009
When will faculty and staff be able to see what the new software looks like?
Training will begin in January 2009 for some administrators and February 2009 for faculty and staff.
