The Mission
Cathedral, a Catholic college preparatory high school in the Holy Cross tradition, provides to a diverse group of students opportunities for spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional and physical growth through service and academic excellence.
Accreditation
Cathedral is accredited by the State of Indiana, the Independent Schools Association of the Central States and the North Central Association.
Enrollment
There are 1247 students (657 males and 590 females) in grades 9 through 12 from Marion County and its seven surrounding counties. Students attended approximately 130 different schools before entering Cathedral.
Faculty
97 faculty members have an average of 18.4 years of teaching experience, with the majority holding master’s degrees. With a student-teacher ratio of 12.8:1, a highly personalized approach to learning is maintained.
Academics
There are 11 academic departments providing more than 200 course offerings. Three instructional levels are offered—honors, academic and college preparatory—as well as honors-level independent study in nearly all disciplines.
The Language Support Program is available to meet the special needs of the bright, college-bound student with specific language processing disabilities. In this program, courses are taught at the academic level of instruction with appropriate accommodations. During the junior and senior year, all LSP students enroll in IB English.
Cathedral offers 25 Advanced Placement (AP) courses and a full International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma as well as IB certificates in many subjects.

AP Exams
- 343 students took 617 Advanced Placement tests. 63 percent earned a 3 or higher on the AP Exam.
IB Exams
- 68 exams given to both diploma and certified candidates (7 Standard/ 4 Higher). 82.3 percent earned scored a of 4 or higher. 88 percent of IB Diploma candidates were awarded IB Diplomas.
Courses Offered in Core Subjects
Students are encouraged to design coursework after Indiana's Core 40 with Academic Honors or Core 40 programs.

Grading Scale and GPA
The grade point average is computed by dividing the total grade points each semester by the number of classes taken which carry grade points. Courses not taken at Cathedral High School are not included in this computation. The honors and academic courses, which are significantly more demanding, are weighted (see below).
