Excellence in Academics, Arts, Athletics
At Cathedral High School, there is an expectation of excellence, whether it be in the classroom, on stage or on the playing field.
All students thrive at Cathedral, whether they are accelerated learners or they have language processing differences. Cathedral High School pioneered services in the city for bright, college-bound students with learning differences. Throughout the long history of this program, nearly a thousand Cathedral graduates have been accepted and graduated from hundreds of colleges and universities.
Cathedral High School is a proud, three-time winner of the National Blue Ribbon School Award. Schools are nominated for the award by the Department of Education, and then complete a comprehensive application about school practices. Schools may apply for status as Exemplary High Performing – among the top schools in a state – or Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing – schools making the fastest progress in their state in closing achievement gaps. Cathedral was named Exemplary High Performing in 2016, 2004 and 1988.
Most recently, the Indiana Department of Education has named Cathedral a Four-Star School for the 2016-17 school year and a Performance Qualified High School for the 2018-19 school year.
With more than 120 co-curricular activities, every student finds an area of interest to excel, have fun and make new friends. Our athletics program has a long history of excellence, with more than 60 state championships in everything from basketball and baseball, to football and volleyball.
